A Scholarship Fund to Honor Her Light

In April of 2024 we lost my beloved niece, Finnley, to suicide. She left us far too soon. She was only 13 years old. Her kind heart, bright spirit, and creative soul touched everyone who knew her. In her memory, we are establishing a perpetual scholarship fund to support young people who shared Finnley’s love for dance. The annual scholarship presentation is also designed to remind everyone of the importance of mental health, suicide awareness, bring awareness of the consequences of bullying, and to help create a future of hope and opportunity.

To launch this scholarship fund, I’m donating 100% of net proceeds from all ebook pre-orders, early paperback sales, and all release month sales from my upcoming book, TRAIL TO TROUBLE. My goal is to reach $15,000 which will provide an annual scholarship in the amount of roughly $500. Every order helps build a lasting legacy of support for students from the Kaukauna high school dance team who qualify for the scholarship. Why a Kaukauna school? Because that is where Finnley lived and attended school, and danced her heart out.

More about Finnley:

Finnley was a young lady with a beautiful soul, who was always full of kindness, laughter, love, and joy. Her inviting smile, charismatic charm, and confident nature attracted so many friends.

Finnley’s passion was dancing, and at the age of two she could be found dancing around the house in her cowboy boots. She loved being a part of the Kaukauna Middle School Dance Team. She was thrilled to dance in competitions with the Electric Dance Company. She adored her teammates and considered them family. The joy of dance was truly in her heart.

Finn loved her family, her friends, and her Starbucks. She would spend time shopping with her mom, and certainly never without a venti strawberry acai lemonade in her hand. With her dad, she enjoyed hunting and fishing. Even though most of the time hanging out in the boat was spent sunbathing and blasting music, occasionally she would help her father reel in a fish.

Finn loved to spend time with her three dogs and two cats, or any fuzzy friend for that matter. If allowed, she would have owned an entire zoo full of animals.

Finnley was a ‘giver’ and will live on through the donation of her beautiful eyes and warm heart. Her donations helped two young girls, one with the gift of sight, and one with the gift of life.
