Finding the Heart of a Story—And the Heart of a Reader Every time I sit down to write a new romantic suspense novel, I’m reminded of something I think we all forget from time to time: courage doesn’t always look like running toward danger. Sometimes it’s as small—and as mighty—as choosing to hope again. Lately, as I’ve been working on my latest manuscript, I’ve been thinking about why I’m so drawn to stories where love and danger collide. Maybe it’s because life rarely gives us clean, tidy chapters. We face hard moments, unexpected twists, and those times when everything feels like it’s hanging by a thread. But even in the middle of the chaos, there’s always a heartbeat of connection waiting to anchor us. That’s what I love most about writing: finding that moment when two characters realize they’re stronger together than they ever were alone. This month, I’ve been diving deep into character motivations—why my heroes protect, why my heroines fight back, and what wounds or secrets push them toward or away from love. It’s always fascinating how these fictional people start revealing little truths about real life. They remind me that trust is earned, healing is messy, and love is still the bravest choice any of us can make. And honestly? Knowing you’re out there, waiting for these characters and cheering them on, motivates me every single day. Your messages, reviews, and simple replies to this newsletter mean more to me than I can ever fully express. You’re the reason I get to tell stories filled with danger, longing, mystery, and happily-ever-afters. Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I can’t wait to share what’s coming next. |
